Soundtrack of 2009

I'm a musician. I read music. I play music. I listen to music. Check out my ipod, it's filled with everything from Aerosmith to Lil Wayne, from Beethoven to the Beastie Boys. If I like it, I listen to it, regardless of the genre (this includes country). I listen to my music loud, I sing in cars, I always have music playing in the background. I also connect memories with songs. I can listen to my ipod, and 'How to Save a Life' comes on I'm instantly taken back to EFY '06. One song can trigger so many memories for me. This is why I decided to take the Billboard top 25 songs, and reminisce on them a little...because I can guarantee you, they all bring back memories of this year.
So here it is, the Soundtrack of 2009.

1. Boom Boom Pow-Black Eyed Peas
-Band Camp, July. Kickin back in music rehersal with Ben randomly singing the simple chorus. He'd start it, I'd join in, and we'd both end at the same part because we didn't know the rest of the words. Classic us.

2. Poker Face-Lady Gaga
-This reminds me of when I took aerobics second semester of my junior year. We would work out in the weight room with the radio on, and of course, this overplayed song was always sure to be on. Many days spent in the weight room with Alisha--we never actually worked out. haha.

3. Just Dance-Lady Gaga
-This song, as with many other songs, just reminds me of driving in Amanda's car. We always had the radio on, and of course, this song was often playing. I can't recall a specifc instance, but it just reminds me of the many places we went.

4. I Gotta Feeling-Black Eyed Peas
-I hated this song when it first came out. But one day, in Amanda's car, I just found myself singing, and we both got a kick out of the "Mazeltov!" and "Le Heim!" references, and always shouted those parts out loudest. I also remember going to QT with a car full of band kids, and just yelling this song before a competition.

5. Love Story-Taylor Swift
-I don't care for Taylor Swift. There, I said it. But this song, along with You Belong With Me, are the exceptions. This reminds me of a time where I was obsessed with Jon Schmidt, and his song Viva La Vida meets Love Story. I counted down the days until I could buy the sheet music, and until that day, I listened to his countless arangements and even learned a few. Needless to say, the music release was constantly pushed back, and I soon lost interest. It never did come out, due to publishing issues. Oh well.

6. Right Round-Flo Rida
-This is another song that reminds me of the end of last year. I can't think of a specific moment, but I just think of last Spring Break until the end of the year. Life was so good then.

7. I'm Yours-Jason Mraz
-Okay, so this takes me back to my first band camp, in '08, so I don't even know why this is on here. This was like, the song of summer '08, I remember it constantly playing when I worked at Tropical Smoothie. Whatever.

8. Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)-Beyonce
-Yearbook camp right here. When everyone was hypnotized, the hypnotist took some people and made them dance to this song. One of the T.A's danced it perfectly, and I remember because she had a huge butt. It wasn't a nice butt, it was just huge. And she wasn't very pretty. Anyway, I remember that. haha

9. Heartless-Kanye West
-Florida. FLORIDA. FLOOOOOOOOOORIDA! This song just screams it. Sarah knows.

10. Gives You Hell-All American Rejects
-This is mine, Sarah, and Amanda's anthem. COUNTLESS times spent in her truck yelling the lyrics of this song. Specifially: after festival on the day of sadies, and Graduation night. Oh my goodness.

11. You Belong with Me-Taylor Swift
-I heard this song once before the summer and I didn't really care for it. But the day I heard it on the way home from my brother's Eagle Scout project...I fell in love. We must've listened to that song 5 times in a row on the way back. Mine and Sarah's favorite part: "and I'm on the bleachers!" Such a feel good song. One day, Sarah and I made a music video to it. An awful awful awful music video.

12. Dead and Gone-T.I and Justin Timberlake
-Totally loved this song when it came out. Takes me back to Sadies/Spring Break time of the year. The radios, however, overplayed it to it's death, and I really can't even listen to it anymore. I also remember for our campaign project in AP Gov last year, we made a remix to this song, for extra credit.

13. You Found Me-The Fray
-I downloaded this song one night, and was in an extra chill mood. I remember staying up until ridiculous hours of the night during the summer, and one night in particular I listened to this over and over. It's a good pondering song.

14. Use Somebody-Kings of Leon
-I think of Amanda's truck. The end.

15. Knock You Down-Keri Hilson feat. Kanye West and Ne-Yo
-I remember one day at the end of summer being at Zack's house, swimming. (So random, I know) This song came on, and Zack and Alan both paused to say "This is bad, real bad Michael Jackson" and talked about how awful Kanye's lyrics were. To me, those lyrics are so stupid, I love them. Therefore, everytime I hear it, I pause to say "This is bad, real bad, Michael Jackson."

16. Blame It-Jamie Foxx
-This song doesn't describe a moment, rather, describes some people I know. And how they behaved when they were drunk. And how terrible that night was when they were drunk. Yeah. The music vid for this one is pretty funny though.

17. Calle Ocho-Pitbull
-Spring break to the end of the year on this one. I remember thinking this was a perfect dance song, which it still is.

18. Live your Life-Rihanna feat. T.I.
-Yeah I don't like this song, kthanks.

19. Kiss me Thru the Phone-Soulja boy
-I CANNOT LISTEN TO THIS SONG. However, it reminds me of a time in Andrew's car, going to a concert in Phoenix. He swore no one had ever heard it before, and I actually liked it. But it takes me back to a dark time. Dark. Time.

20. Down-Jay Sean feat. Lil Wayne
-This one's kind of recent. I really like the Lil Wayne verse in it. Not a huge memory song to me, yet, but I like to say "I'm down", and one time Al said, "Like the economy?" That's about it.

21. The Climb-Miley Cyrus
-I HATE THIS SONG, KTHANKS.

22. Best I ever Had-Drake
-Honestly, no memories. I don't care for this Drake song.

23. My Life would Suck without You-Kelly Clarkson
-Monday of Spring Break, Sarah and I at Amanda's house. Ben came over. We watched SNL, she was on, singing this song. I'm sure there were times in Manda's truck that this came on as well.

24. Halo-Beyonce
-Amanda's car for sure. End of Junior Year. I wanted to play this song on the piano, definitely remember that. This one is just a mix of memories.

25. Party in the USA-Miley Cyrus
-Okay, I have a soft spot for this song. I'll admit, I hated it. HATED IT. But for homecoming Jensen said, if this song comes on, we have to dance, I'm sorry. So I agreed. And since that night, I've found a new love for it. And I dance, whenever it comes on.
